Camp Moon River is a full-day traditional-style summer day camp with an "overnight feel" for rising K - 8th-grade children (extended care offered).  Camp Moon River’s mission is to provide a meaningful summer camp experience for campers and staff filled with personal growth, relationship building, and fun.  Our goal is to provide the highest quality summer day camp experience in the Lowcountry.

We are a day camp, but your child will get the benefit of an “overnight camp atmosphere” packaged into the convenience and affordability of a local day camp.  While we do not spend the night, we plan each part of the day with intention so that campers and crew have the opportunity to connect almost as if they were spending 24 hours a day together. Campers of all ages will have a blast while making friends and learning what it means to be part of a camp community.  CMR emphasizes the importance of good sportsmanship, self-respect, trying new things, and, most importantly, having fun.

Campers are put into "bunks" according to grade and enrollment, and campers have the opportunity to select their daily and weekly choice in addition to bunk and all-camp activities.

Whether a camper attends one week or all of the summer weeks of Camp Moon River, they will leave having had a meaningful summer experience with treasured memories, dear friendships, and valuable personal growth.

Rising 10th-12th graders have the opportunity to be Junior Counselors in Training (JCITs) and Counselors in Training (CITs). All counselors and specialists will be 18 and over.

Sample Day Schedule

This is a sample of how one day of CMR might be planned. Schedules and activity blocks will vary according to week and weather.

7:30 - 8:30 Morning Wait in DuBose Media Center

8:30 - 8:45 Campers and Staff Get To Know Each Other within their bunks

8:45 - 9:10 All Camp morning meeting at the Riverbank.
9:15 - 10:15 CMR Daily Choice (campers select from a list of awesome camp activities to try for the day)

10:15- 10:40 Snack

10:45 - 11:45 Weekly Choice (campers choose from a selection of CMR activities at the beginning of the week, and they will participate in that activity all week).

Noon - 1:00 Lunch at the Moon Canteen/Play/Rest

1:10 - 2:10 Planned Divisional Activity 1 (e.g., water slides, water games, wacky games, game show, team building, sports league)

2:15 - 3:15 Planned Divisional Activity 2 (e.g., water slides, water games, wacky games, game show, team building, sports league)

3:20 - 4:20 Planned Divisional Activity 3 (e.g., water slides, water games, wacky games, game show, team building, sports league)

4:30 Dismissal/Carpool

4:30 - 5:30 Extended Care at DuBose Media Center
